Knox, Indiana – The Starke County Economic Development Foundation has announced the hiring of two summer interns to assist in the Foundation’s workforce development efforts in Starke County. Rachel Mullens of North Judson, Indiana and Stefanie McGovern of Winamac, Indiana have already begun their duties and are making a significant difference in the preparations of the Foundation.
The Board of Directors of SCEDF authorized two summer interns following the highly successful internship experienced in the summer of 2013. The two interns are working on Manufacturing Day Activities for 2014, including the 7th grade manufacturing experience and the annual Prospectus and Achievement Event.The Marketing efforts, attraction efforts and Manufacturer’s Day activities are being bolstered by their presence.
Rachel Mullins, the daughter of David and Delora Mullens, is a 2011 graduate of North Judson-San Pierre High School and will be a senior at Huntington University where she is majoring in Elementary Education with the goal to teach middle school mathematics when she graduates. Rachel is working with the three County School Superintendants to coordinate Manufacturer’s Day and to prepare a 7th grade Manufacturer’s Day curriculum meeting Indiana State Standards that will introduce the County’s 7th graders to the unique opportunities presented by Starke County manufacturers.
Stefanie McGovern, daughter of Michael and Cheryl McGovern is a 2012 graduate of Winamac High School and is attending Ivy Tech College and hopes to enter the Kelly School of Business at IUPUI to obtain her bachelor’s degree before pursuing a sales position in medical sales. Stefanie is tasked with assisting in the Foundation’s marketing efforts, both locally and nationally. She is also leading the efforts in social media, including Facebook and Twitter. She is also involved in planning the Manufacturer’s Day activities.
