INAUGURAL NORTH JUDSON 2020 BUSINESS PITCH COMPETITION ANNOUNCED
North Judson, Indiana – The Starke County Economic Development Foundation, Inc, (SCEDF), the Local Economic Development Organization for all of Starke County and its local governments have announced plans for the launching of the 1st Annual North Judson 2020 Business Pitch Competition. The event is scheduled to be held on September 19, 2020 beginning at 7:00 pm (Central) at the North Judson Town hall, located at 310 Lane Street, North Judson, Indiana.
This Pitch Competition is designed to bring attention to and assist small business owners and entrepreneurs through a judging process and targeting prizes with the ultimate goal being to have the winning entry establish a new or expanded business in North Judson, or within a radius of 3 miles of North Judson. In addition, it is hoped that such a new or expanded business will help foster an improved quality of life in the North Judson area, and also build support for future editions of the pitch competition.
Eligible entries would include a start-up business that is less than three years old, and companies that are older than three years may also apply if they are developing growth through a new product, service line, expansion, or implementation of a new strategic plan together with a clear growth plan. An application form and full Pitch rules may be found on the website of SCEDF at www.scedf.biz after July 13, 2020. Questions may be submitted by email to Ron Gifford, Business Advisor for the Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center at firstname.lastname@example.org. He will also be available for all entries to assist in business consulting, business plan preparation, or other needed assistance to prepare for the competition. The competition will be judged by a team of 3-4 persons.
The winning entry will receive a total of $10,000 in prizes, with $5,000 in cash upon winning, and an additional $5,000 conditioned on launching or growing a business within the North Judson area and continuing to work with the Small Business Development Center Business Adviser for Starke County for a period of at least two years.
Larry Wickert, SCEDF Executive Director said that “this competition falls in line with what we were formed to do, that being the creation and assistance to new and expanding companies in the Starke County area. With the help of the Indiana Small Business Development Center, where we serve as their Business Advisors for Starke County, we think that this event is very exciting and could very well lead to a new or expanding business taking up residence in Starke County and specifically in North Judson.”
