The unemployment rate in Indiana in August was reported to be 3.5%, up from 3.4% in July, but still below the national unemployment rate of 3.9%.  During the month, the labor force for the state increased by 11,085 and private-sector employment was also up by 3,600.  In comparison to its neighboring states, Indiana continues to have the lowest rate of unemployment, followed by Illinois at 4.2%, Michigan and Kentucky at 4.3%, and Ohio at 4.6%.
