Starke County Unemployment Falls Again in May

Starke County Unemployment Falls Again in May

The unemployment rate for May in Starke County fell to 3.5%, down from 3.7% in April, lower than both the state and national rates of 3.6%.  The labor force in the county grew 76 persons for the month, with employment improving by 97 persons. For 2019, the rate has fallen from 5.5% in January down to the current rate of 3.5% with total unemployment down for the year by 211.

Ron Gifford has worked for the Foundation as Special Projects Coordinator since 2008 after a law career of 32 years. In addition to his duties for the Foundation, Mr. Gifford serves as Director of the Starke County Initiative for Lifelong Learning (SCILL) and as a Business Advisor for the Indiana Small Business Development Center, serving businesses and entrepreneurs in both Starke and Pulaski Counties.
