With the assistance of the State-sponsored funding program known as Community Crossings, Starke County Highway Department Superintendent Rik Ritzler has recently announced that one project has been completed already, with two additional projects scheduled to be done in August. The completed project is the repaving on CR 50 S from SR 39 to the Knox city limits, which was done with $731,580 from Community Crossings and the balance from county monies. The August projects will be the repaving of Range Road from SR 10 to Toto Road and CR 250 N from US 35 to Range Road. These two projects received $1M in funding from Community Crossings.
Meanwhile, the Town of Hamlet is moving forward this month with the resurfacing of Division Street from Railroad Street to Terry Street, which will also include the installation of a sidewalk on one side of the road from Pearl Street to Terry Street. This project will cost $138,000 with 75% of the cost to be paid for with Community Crossings funds.
