The Indiana unemployment rate stands at 5.0% for October according to a report issued this morning by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which is down from 6.3% recorded in September. For the month, the Labor Force declined by 7,271 persons and Indiana added 23,300 jobs. However, for the year as a whole, the state is down 83,900 jobs. The national rate for October is 6.9%.
Indiana continues to have the lowest rate among its contiguous states, with Michigan at 5.5%; Ohio at 5.6%; Illinois at 6.8%; and Kentucky at 7.4%.
