Indiana's unemployment rate remains at 3.1% for February, lower than the national rate of 3.5%, as well as all four contiguous states. Michigan is at 3.6%. Ohio at 4.1%, Kentucky at 4.2% and Illinois at 3.4% for the month. A net increase of 3900 jobs was reported in Indiana.
This news was tempered by a separate announcement that unemployment claims in Indiana grew from 3400 the previous week to 62,777 in the most recent week, as the effects of COVID 19 begin to hit home. Nationally, 3.3 million unemployment claims were filed in the most recent period.
