Indiana Unemployment Rate Inches up in March

The Indiana unemployment rate increased in March from 3.1% to 3.2%.  However it should be noted that most of this information came from a survey conducted on March 12, 2020, prior to the massive unemployment filings that all states have seen over the weeks since then.  Indiana also experienced a decrease in the labor force of just over 119,000 people over February, with most of that coming from laid-off workers.

Indiana continues to enjoy a lower rate than its contiguous neighbors, with Illinois at 4.6%, Michigan at 4.1%, Ohio at 5.5%, and Kentucky at 5.8%.
