Indiana Unemployment Rate Drops in June Report

Indiana’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.5 percent for June, down from 3.6% in May, and remains lower than the national rate of 3.7 percent. The monthly unemployment rate is a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicator that reflects the number of unemployed people seeking employment within the prior four weeks as a percentage of the labor force.  Indiana's labor force decreased by 10,126 people during the month and employment was up by 6,800 over the previous month.  Indiana continues to have the lowest rate of unemployment compared to its contiguous state neighbors, with Ohio at 4.0%, Kentucky at 4.1%, Michigan at 4.2%, and Illinois at 4.3%.
