INDOT Upates Status of Starke County Road Projects

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has released updates on two road projects currently underway in Starke County.  Both updates were as of August 18, 2010.

The first project is the resurfacing of State Road 10 between State Road 39 and US 35, which as of that date was about 50% complete.  Left to be done was paving of the approches, placing shoulder stone,and striping the roadway.  All work is anticipated to be completed by October 8, 2010.  This work is being done by E & B Paving at a total cost of $1,330,418.55.  During this resurfacing, there are daytime restrictions of one lane with flaggers.

The second project is the replacement of a small structure on US 35 over the Bailey Ditch, about 3.3 miles south of US 30.  This work costs $647,506.87 and is being done by Jack Isom Construction Company, with an anticipated completion date of November 5, 2010.  As of the reporting date, only about 5% of this project had been completed.  US 35 has been closed between State Road 8 and US 30 since July 26, 2010.

INDOT Updates Two Starke County projects

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has issued an update on two Starke County projects that have been underway.  As of July 21, 2010, the pipe lining project on SR 39 at three different locations is complete, and final inspection was conducted on July 15.

The small structure replacement on US 35 between State Road 8 and US 30 has just begun with the closure of US 35 and as of July 21, was only .1% complete and the road was closed as of July 26, 2010 until the middle of October.

State Road 39 Resurfacing to Begin August 9, 2010

The Indiana Departmnet of Transportation (INDOT) has announced that effective on August 9, 2010, traffic on SR 39 between SR 8 and US 30 will be restricted to one lane as directed by signs and flaggers for resurfacing work.  This work is scheduled to be completed by the end of October, subject to weather delays.

State Road 10 Resurfacing Begins on July 30, 2010

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced that effective Friday, July 30, 2010, traffic on State Road 10 between State Road 39 and US 35 will be restricted to one lane as directed by signs and flaggers during daylight hours as State Road 10 is resurfaced.  The work is scheduled to be completed by mid-October.

June Update on SR 39 Pipe Lining Project

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has issued its June construction status report for ongoing projects in the District.  The pipe lining project on SR 39 at three different locations is proceeding and at the end of June was considered to be about 40% complete.  As of June 23, 2010, the contractor was continuing to clear right of way, and was cleaning and pushing pipes.  There were no lane restrictions at that time.

Pipe lining is being done about 1.25 miles north of the east junction of SR 10, 2.25 miles north of the east junction of SR 10, and 1.48 miles south of SR 8.  The contractor is West Michigan Cable from Grant, Michigan, who bid $118,146 for this work.  Monies for this project came from Stimulus Act funding.

INDOT Awards Bid for SR 10 Resurfacing Project

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) today awarded the bid for the resurfacing of State Road 10 from State Road 39 to US 35 to E&B Paving of Anderson, Indiana.  Their low bid of $1,330,419 came in less than the engineering estimate of $1,436,000.  This project was let on July 7 in a formal bidding process in which two other bidders also put in bids, both of which were higher than the engineering estimate.

INDOT Takes Bids on Resurfacing of SR 10 from SR 39 to US 35

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) opened bids this morning on numerous projects around the State of Indiana.  Of importance to Starke County, one of these projects was the resurfacing of SR 10 from SR 39 to US 35.  Three bids were received for this project, with the apparent low bid of $1,330,419 coming from E&B Paving from Anderson, Indiana.  Other bidders and their bids were Rieth Riley Construction ($1,458,501) and Walsh & Kelly, Inc. ($1,539,304).  The engineering estimate for this project was $1,436,000.

The bids will be reviewed by INDOT before a final award is made.  No other information is available at this time as to when this project might begin or how long the contract will provide for the completion of the work.

Update on Pipe Lining Project on SR 39

The LaPorte District of the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has issued its Construction Status Report for May, 2010.  One of the projects for which letting has occured and a contract has been signed is for pipe lining on SR 39 at three different locations, including 1.25 miles north of the east junction of SR 10; 2.25 miles north of the east junction of SR 10; and 1.48 miles south of SR 8.  According to the update, a pre-construction conference was held in April, and actual construction will begin on or about June 1, and be completed by the end of June.  The total cost of the contract that was awarded was for $118,146, with the successful bidder being West Michigan Cable from Grant, Michigan.
