The July jobs report proved to be better than forecasted, with an additional 163,000 jobs added during the month nationally. Analysts had predicted something more in the area of 95,000 new jobs. Manufacturing jobs increased by 25,000 during the month.
Despite the jobs outcome, the national unemployment rate inched upward from 8.2% last month to 8.3% for July.
